PROJECT OVERVIEW
The homeowner contacted UK Heat Services Limited because their old back boiler was no longer working properly. Back boilers were popular in the 1960s to 1980s, but they are now outdated and much less efficient than modern heating systems. Many parts for back boilers are also hard to find, making repairs difficult and expensive.
Our Gas Safe registered engineers visited the property to assess the existing system and discuss the best options with the customer. After explaining the benefits of upgrading to a combi boiler, the homeowner decided to go ahead with the installation.
SOLUTIONS
We recommended and installed a modern combination (combi) boiler to replace the old back boiler system. A combi boiler heats water directly from the mains when you turn on a tap, so there is no need to store hot water in a tank. This makes combi boilers more compact and efficient than older systems.
The work included:
- Safely removing the old back boiler and any connected pipework
- Removing the hot water cylinder to free up cupboard space
- Installing the new combi boiler in a suitable location
- Connecting the boiler to the existing radiators and pipework
- Testing the entire system to ensure everything worked safely and efficiently
- Registering the installation with Gas Safe
